The Clinical Senate Council is a small multi-professional steering group with a membership of approximately 20-30 people. It provides overall leadership and manages the Senate’s business. The Council maintains a strategic overview across the Thames Valley and is responsible for the formulation and provision of advice that is sought from the Senate, drawing on the views and opinion of the broader Assembly.
The Clinical Senate is hosted by NHS England Thames Valley. It operates as an independent body and the independence of the Senate, and its membership, is a core principle of the Senate’s way of working. Its focus is to provide impartial advice which is in the best interests of patients, not of organisations or professional interests. Objectivity and neutrality is essential to the Senate’s credibility.
